The Lebanese International School celebrated Lebanese Independence Day yesterday, Friday 21 November, at 11:00 AM on the school basketball grounds. The program opened with a warm welcome from the Principal, Mr. Ali Ahmad, followed by the Lebanese and Sierra Leone national anthems. In attendance were the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr. Samih Hashim, His Excellency the Lebanese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Dr Farah Farah, His Excellency the Algerian Ambassador Dr. Abdelhafid Hachem, the Chairman of the Academic Committee, Mr. Faisal Basma, the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr. Samir Hassaniyeh, and Mr. Ali Basma, member of the Board of Governors. Mr. Hashim delivered a brief opening statement, after which His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Farah gave the independence address. The Director of Studies, Mr. Jongopie, offered a heartfelt congratulatory message. Students Nour Abou Salah, Noah Basma, Sireen Tohme and Musa Abass read beautiful independence poems, and both the Junior and Senior pupils performed a vibrant national folkloric dance. The celebration continued with a Basketball match between continuing and past students, with the continuing students taking the win, followed by a football match between the Lebanese International School team and Limount College, which ended 2–1 in favour of the Lebanese International School. The event closed with the presentation of trophies to the winners, bringing the day to a joyful end.
